First Book of the Year 2018
This is my first time participating in First Book of the Year, hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, and now in its fifth year.
I Am a Truck by Michelle Winters was short-listed for the 2017 Giller Prize and I’ve been burning with curiousity about it since then. It has been described as a “tender but lively debut novel about a man, a woman, and their Chevrolet dealer.” Doesn’t that sound intriguing?
(Our grandson wanted to be in the photo too, but I’m reading something else to him.)
Whatever your first book is, I hope you have tons of reading pleasure in the coming year!

I haven’t decided what my first book of the year will be. My first posted book REVIEW of the year will be for a non-fiction book, but I started reading that in 2017 so that doesn’t count. I am going to make sure that my first book that I start reading this year will be some fiction!
PS What a cute grandson. We learnt a month or so ago that we are going to be grandparents this year (for the first time). Very exciting.
Congratulation, Sue! There is nothing like being a grandparent – it’s a wonderful experience!
Oooh, love this photo! Hope you enjoy the book, too. Happy New Year!
Thanks, JoAnn!
Happy New Year Debbie and, may you read many great books in 2018.
I hope that you discover some fine reading this year, too, Diane.
That does sound intriguing. I’m currently reading Fates and Furies. Will post about it soon. Happy 2018.
I’ve heard a lot about Fates & Furies, Julia. I’m interested in seeing your take on it.
Oh, it’s such fun: what a great way to begin 2018!
Oh, I’m so glad to hear that, Marcie. It has certainly pulled me in from that first wonderful sentence about the sandwiches au bologne. 🙂
Cool! My first book is a classic by a Nobel Prize winner. I am reading it for a reading group. Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset is set in 14th century Norway. I like it so far but don’t love it yet.
Cool, Judy! And that would also qualify as a book with a character’s name in the title for the Book Challenge by Erin https://www.facebook.com/groups/BookChallengeByErin/permalink/982592865226301
I love that book! I’m sure you must be done reading it by now… I hope you enjoyed it!
Yes – when I finally got to sit down with it, I finished it in an afternoon. I love it too. I can’t remember the last time I laughed out loud when reading. 😉
