Thank You Power
Two time Emmy winning newscaster Deborah Norville is a successful author of several books including her latest Knit with Deborah Norville, as well as Back on Track: How to Straighten Out Your Life When It Throws You a Curve, and two children’s pop-up books: I Don’t Want to Sleep Tonight and I Can Fly!
The May issue of Success magazine contained an interview with Norville about her recent book Thank You Power: Making the Science of Gratitude Work for You.
Norville’s Thank You Power web-site says:
Thank You Power is the extraordinary force that comes simply from acknowledging the ‘good things’ in life. Beginning with the regular practice of counting one’s blessings and feeling thankful for them, one can become healthier, happier, smarter, more resilient and even able to undo the negative effects of stress.
The book’s exercises include writing a gratitude letter to someone who does you a kindness. Norville writes:
If you long to experience greater joy each day; a deeper peace during the quiet moments; and a closer, more fulfilling relationship with your loved ones than you have right now, say thank you.
I concur wholeheartedly. Saying ‘thank you’ to someone on a daily basis can transform your life. I’ve had many wonderful reactions from the recipients of ‘thank yous’ that I’ve sent. How about you? Please share with us your experiences in expressing gratitude.
