The Daylilies are in Bloom Again
July24
(Does anyone remember Katherine Hepburn’s famous line in Stage Door, 1937: “The calla lilies are in bloom again.”)?
When we moved here, there were several daylily plantings that have all thrived and grown. They really need to be divided this fall!
A sea of colour. Unlike many parts of the country (I’m thinking of you, Ontario) we had lots of rain and cool weather in June so the garden is somewhat lush.
A sunny spot to sit for a minute.
Beautiful, Debbie! I can see sitting amongst the flowers and just feel the stress draining away!
True, LuAnn. Flowers and green just seem to have a way of doing that.
Just gorgeous! I love the flowers you can have up north – so many of them simply don’t survive here.
Jane, when I gardened in Ontario I used to think that a plant rated growing zone 8 or 9 would grow in any zone up to and including that zone. Of course, that’s not accurate, as you point out.
I’m reminded of lupines which grow wild here in Atlantic Canada by the tens (hundreds?) if thousands and yet are prized garden plants in the Niagara Peninsuls, needing nurturing and luck since, as I’ve come to realize, it’s just too hot in southern Ontario.
Beautiful!
Your day lilies are lovely Debbie.
SO beautiful, Debbie. I love daylilies. Years ago I had a garden with daylilies that came in in pinkish tones and also in wine tones and yellow/white. Loved them.
Yvette, in Ontario I had a garden full of pink lilies and I miss them! Thanks for stopping by.
I love your lilies! The color is so bright and cheery. To have a seat so close would be awesome.
It’s a lovely seat in the morning sun, Betty, even when the lilies are done. 🙂
