The View from my Window – 29Jul16
Time for the monthly update on the view from my office window.
The past three weeks have been sunny and hot, as many other places have been. It was beginning to look as if we would have a “mini-drought” but yesterday the clouds moved in:
And then it rained – one of those beautiful summer rains that come straight down so that you can keep all the windows open and hear it drip from the eaves, and smell that wonderful warm-earth-meets-rain smell called (very unromantically) petrichor.
It rained gently into the night. Today promises to be sunny and hot again – perfect for the beach!
How’s the weather where you are?;
Hot! Plus we have had nearby fires so we have ash fall and smoky nights. It has been a hot summer so far and no rain in sight. #am whining.
Yes, I think it’s hot across most of North America this summer, Judy. It has been a hotter summer than usual for us, but still not as warm as the rest of the country (I’m so glad!) You are entitled to whine.
The beach! Yes, the beach. Have fun!
We took our grandsons to the beach, Yvette. They had a BLAST. The water was warmer than I can remember it being in the 13 years we’ve been here. It must be the unusually warm weather we had in July. Beautiful warm saltwater!
Houston had horrible floods in the spring but the summer has been dry. The temps have mostly been in the mid-90’s at the most though.
Mid-nineties is still too high for me, Deb. “Hot” is relative!
It’s amazing the difference a bit of rain can make!
It certainly is, Betty. And we had rain again last night, so things are looking somewhat refreshed today.
