Cultural Definitions: Social Class Quiz
April26
Hey guys, this is downright scary.
I took this quiz, suggested by Kate at Books are My Favourite and Best, and it told me: “Your cultural tastes are most similar to a middle-class woman, aged 60+ with a postgraduate education.” Spot on.
I’d be interested in your results.
P.S. The quiz is hosted by ABC News and researched by the Australian Cultural Fields project, sponsored by Western Sydney University. On a couple of the quiz questions, I substituted “Canadian” for “Australian”. You’ll see what I mean.
It was fun, but I’m not a 18-24 year old middle class. Well, the age is wrong. I think it was my high tv watching and my music listening is little, and hasn’t evolved much. I was hoping for ‘musicals’ as a genre choice.
I got the same as you Debbie – dare I admit that that means it was spot on for me too!!
Hi. Just popped over here from The Dusty Bookcase.
Despite my intellectual leanings and two BAs (English and Women’s Studies), I came in as “high school ed”.
And they don’t recognise Folk as a music genre. What am I to make of that?
Folk music doesn’t play a big part in Australian culture? Maybe?
And I think your rating probably means that you read outside the ‘expected’ parameters. Let’s go with that. 😉
Thanks for dropping by – and I hope your move goes smoothly.
Ha ha! I got “middle class man, age 60+, with a high school education.” The age is close, but that’s it.
I suspect my country music habit must have skewed my results — although you’d think reading and liking Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, and Margaret Atwood would balance that out.
