First Book of the Year 2019
I’m too late to officially join in the First Book of the Year post hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. But I thought my photo was too good to pass up.
I’m a big fan of Alan Bradley’s Flavia de Luce “mystery” series. I say “mystery” because these books have become more about Flavia and her family than the actual mysteries, but are no less likeable for it.
This entry, Thrice the Brinded Cat hath Mew’d is #8 in the series. Number 10 The Golden Tresses of the Dead debuts this month so I figured I’d better get caught up before I can’t (get caught up, that is.)
Whatever your first book is, I hope you have tons of reading pleasure in the coming year!

I love the Flavia de Luce series! I’m sad that the new one will be the last, but I suppose it would be hard to believe she’s still a child detective after all these cases.
I didn’t realize that #10 would be the last in the series, but it does make sense that Flavia would have to age – or come to an end. π
My first book, started when it was still 2018, is The Lost Queen by Signe Pike. It was great! Someday when I catch up on some other series I am part way through I plan to check this one out. On we go!
So many, many series, Judy – how can we possibly keep up with them all?!
I love the picture! Happy New Year! π
Thanks, Naomi π
What a great choice… I’ve been meaning to try this series for ages! My first book of 2019 will be the new RBG biography, and it’s going to take some time π
I read the first in the Flavia de Luce series and enjoyed it. I didn’t realize the series had grown so much! Good luck catching up. (I, too, am already behind on my 2019 reading. We do the best we can, right?)
Unfortunately, Julia, reading can’t be our first priority. Oh, wouldn’t that be lover-ly?
Love that picture!
I haven’t been blog hopping in forever. It’s fun to see what you are up to — even if I am late to see your post! π
Thanks, Gilion – nice to see you again. You might be late seeing this post, but I’m even later in following it up with anything else.;)
