What are You Reading Monday 10Aug09
What are you reading Mondays is hosted by J. Kaye’s Book Blog
Noted this week: two classics of 1950s literature (Hannah Fowler, Village School) and the hottest new diet book to hit the pre-publication market.
I’ve just finished reading these:
1. Hannah Fowler
First published in 1956, this work is the second in Giles’s series of historical novels on Kentucky, which includes The Kentuckians and The Believers.
I’ve never read any of Giles’ work but this was recommended by a friend whose judgment I trust.
2. The Full Plate Diet Subtitled: “Slim Down, Look Great, Be Healthy” ARC – book looks lovely & diet appears to be easy. In fact, I’ll be immediately putting into action the basic guidelines in this book and I’ll be able to give you “real live” results. A full review coming.
3. Village School (The Fairacre Series #1)
Although I’ve never heard of this series, either, they are seemingly quite popular.
Set in rural England in the mid 1950s, it’s exactly what it says: the account of a life in the year of the village school in Fairacre.
I’m currently reading these:
1. Village Diary (The Fairacre Series #2)
Although it seems that nothing happens as Miss Read unfolds her stories (and nothing much does), they’re strangely addictive.
Be forewarned.
2. The Story Factor
by Annette Simmons and sub-titled: Inspiration, Influence, and Persuasion Through the Art of Storytelling. What’s your story? Who are you? Where do you come from?
“Anyone…(has) a story to tell. Tell it well and you will create a shared experience with your listeners that can have profound results.”

Thanks for your comments on the Full Plate Diet. I’m looking forward to your review in the future. It is a simple concept. I hope you find it just as easy to do at each meal.
