What a difference in a month! It beginning to look like spring although it sure hasn’t been feeling like it. Temperatures have been mostly single digits C (seldom above 50 F).
The trees are still pretty bare, but the grass is green and growing and the daffodils that we actually sodded over last year have returned. This brings me much joy.
In contrast, a friend helped me plant close to 200 daffodil bulbs in this new garden last fall. They were meant to fill the garden with a swath of yellow, and spill out onto the lawn (which they have done.) What a disappointment they have proved to be.
What’s in your garden right now? Are the spring flowers in your part of the world all finished?

I live in the desert so don’t have a lot of spring flowers but there are some wildflowers that spring up on the surround hillsides. I keep a lot of potted plants like spider plants, cacti, and succulents.
It was very warm last week, over 90. This week is nice at about 75.
Too warm for me, Ti! I’m just looking forward to the 75-80 range with the occasional hot-enough-for-the-beach day.
In my garden right now? Bare trees, that’s what! We are of C oursein late autumn here down under. A month ago I would have said glorious leaves….
Ah – I did think of my southern hemisphere friends when I wrote that, hoping it wouldn’t depress you too much. Bare trees are quite the thing here too in winter.
I often think about trying bulbs but I have a very small area to plant. (I am in a condiminium so I feel lucky to have as much gardening area to plant as I do.) Also every time I read about bulbs it seems like they don’t do well in our area. (Not enough cold weather.) Sorry your daffodils did not do well this year.
The bulbs came along better than expected, Tracy – they were just MUCH later than they should have been.
