Lawn Ornaments, Country Style
December11
I was out doing some volunteer work yesterday morning and came across what I at first thought was a large dog on the front lawn of a house.
When I realized that it was a cow, I thought for sure it was a lawn ornament – until said bovine raised her head to look at me.
Another “we never saw this in the city” moment!
What I love is how comfortable the cow looks — as though, of course, she belongs there and there’s nothing at all strange about hanging out next to the tree by the house.
Bonnie – really that was part of what made me think it was a dog at first. It was as if that is just her spot. (And she wasn’t fenced.)
One cow? Alone? That would make me think it was a lawn ornament. I’m not too far from the country and whenever I see cows they are usually in groups.
Just one, Leslie – as if he was someone’s pet 🙂
I absolutely love this!! Though I’ve lived out here for thirty years, I still do a double take when I see a deer or bear. I can’t believe my eyes.
Nan, I think it’s wonderful that we never lose that thrill of seeing animals. Every deer sighting is as special to e as the first.
Too funny 🙂
