Snapshot Saturday: SAND, SEA & SKY

I took this on Wednesday in beautiful Malagash Nova Scotia. The water of the Northumberland Strait (part of that same North Atlantic that sunk the Titanic) really was that blue.
Could you tell that it was was only 5C / 40F?
Looks like a beautiful day, even being only 5C. It’s nice when the sea is that blue.
It was indeed a beautiful day, Eva, although cool. π
WOW…that is really blue water!
“Your” sea must also get that blue from time to time, Diane?
Love that blue shade!
Here is my Saturday Snapshot post!
Fishing boats always make an interesting pic, don’t they, Gautami?
That is such a beautiful blue – true blue and with the contrast of the sky. Very, very nice.
Thank you, Kay. [blush] I’d like to take credit for the colors, but I’m not the painter. π
I could sit out there and look at the horizon for hours! (Properly wrapped up, of course)
Oh, me too, Eugenia. Thanks for dropping by!
Oh gorgeous! I love a good view of open water. I was out east as a kid and could figure out why the water was always so cold. I guess it’s the North Atlantic aspect that I wasn’t counting on π
July & August are really the only months we can actually go in the water, Trish. Even then – it’s cool. π
I always find it amazing when the sea, that one day looks so cold and grey looking, can change to that beautiful blue (and still be cold – π ! ) Beautiful shot of the open sea!
Thanks, Susan! I was just discussing with a friend this morning how the sea and sky get their color (refraction of light or something) and marveling at that very thing.
‘could’ is supposed to be ‘couldn’t’ . . .
It does look very cold, but oh those blues are marvelous! I do miss the ocean so much. Must take a jaunt over to the coast soon.
I think the salt water gets in one’s blood, Barbara!
What a gorgeous color! I just watched Titanic for the anniversary, and we were commenting on how blue the water was–I guess it wasn’t just James Cameron’s imagination!
On a fine day, it’s very blue, Cheryl. But I always wonder why it’s not turquoise like the Caribbean. Must be the light coming at a different from the sun or something!
Lovely — the color, and just the expanse of it all. And yet, yes — it doesn’t look exactly warm.
I always have thought of the Atlantic as cold, rocky, treacherous — the Pacific as warmer, more inviting and “beachy”.
The Atlantic sure does that reputation in parts, Cipriano, and the Pacific, after all, was named for its calmness. But there are a lot of lovely beaches on the East Coast of Canada and the U.S.
I love beaches in winter. There is something chilly and abandoned and beautiful about them, and that color is awesome!
I don’t know if the color had anything to do with the temperature, Lisa, but I agree with you that is is awesome!
That’s so pretty! I love visits to the ocean when you can actually see to the horizon.
I guess it would be fog that would keep you from seeing the horizon, Alyce? We seldom have fog on this shore – maybe once every couple of years. The rest of Nova Scotia does not get off so easily!
It’s so blue.
I’m so glad I was able to capture it, Irene.
Oh I love this! I love how you got it all in and it all moves from one to the other.
I’m glad you got that, Mrs. J. – it just seemed seamless to me.
Blue sky and deep blue sea. Is the same when the weather is warm?
Bluer?
Depends on the day, Edgar – whether the sun is shining or the wind blowing. I’ll take a couple of hot weather shots this summer and let my readers compare. π
This looks like an abstract painting. I love the broad swaths of color!
I agree, Cathy – and a great choice of colors!
What a great picture! I can just imagine the wind blowing on my face. π
Very deceptive. I was thinking pleasant day and mild breeze, now I’m thinking icy winds and icebergs.
That’s the Atlantic, Leslie. I’m sure that Lake Michigan can be the same way, no?
