Saturday Snapshot: The Lavender Fields of Nova Scotia
July14
We’ve been having a warm, sunny summer, conducive to the growing of lavender. The plants at Seafoam Lavender Farm 20 minutes from here are thriving (although I’m told they could soon use some rain).
Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books.
Love lavender fields so fragrant and lovely.
We don’t have lavender fields here. Wish we had….
Here is my Saturday Snapshot post!
I’d take some of that rain right now, Gautami! Thanks for visiting.
That is lovely, and I bet it smelled gorgeous – we visited a lavender farm in Norfolk once, and it was heavenly. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/qCafm
My Scottish soul longs for lavender. I wonder if it would grow here in northeastern PA?
Barbara, They’re growing several different varieties at this farm. I don’t see why you couldn’t grow at least one or two of them there.
We are usually wetter than this summer, but the business is still there.
That looks lovely.
I love the smell of lavender, but not the taste. I’ve been offered and tried both lavender tea (ugh!) and lavender ice cream (double ugh!), so I think I’ll stick to smelling them.
Eva, the taste is definitely a surprise but I enjoy it in moderation. I bought some yummy lavender oatcakes when I visited. It’s not for everyone, though. ๐
That looks so lovely. It must smell wonderful too.
Diane, Christine & Louise – they do smell wonderful – truly a feast for the senses!
We could definitely use some rain, that’s for sure… They keep saying it *might* rain. Quite the contrast to the last couple years summer. (I live in Nova Scotia, too.)
Wow, they really are beds of lavendar–I’ve heard that phrase, but it’s so visual here with those thick plots. Lovely!
Just seeing the photo brings the smell to mind. ๐
Can you smell them from your home? It looks lovely!!!
Don’t I wish, Mrs. J.! ๐
I just love lavender, although I always associated it with the south of France. Although we have some in our garden in Pennsylvania, I never knew it could grow in climates further north.
I love the look of that lavender!
Me, too, Vasilly – and the scent!
