My STATE OF THE WORDLE – January 2013

February1

I don’t know who is the genius behind Wordle but I’m sending out a big THANK YOU!

At Wordle, it’s free to create your own word clouds – and then you can change the orientation, colour, and font. It’s a little tricky to copy the image, but there’s lots of valuable FAQs to help you along.

This Wordle is Exurbanis at the end of January 2013.

Wordies are a great way to see where the emphasis is being placed… yours does not surprise me at all. Sometimes it is fun to do a word count for key words in an article or speech.

Your blog takes me back to the times I taught Primary Junior grades and was training as a school librarian. For favourites, I loved Brian Wildsmith’s illustrations… and Sendak, and Pilcher. Katherine Paterson and Cynthis Voight were favourites with older readers.

I read your blog regularly… read about the Frost picture book… obviously the suicide interpretation has not caught on… and blogged about it last week.

I have just posted a few new links you may find amusing.

    Cheers, Ellen

Illustrations can make or break a picture book, can’t they, Ellen? Artists should get better billing.

And authors that illustrate their own books! I’m so very impressed.

Aren’t they fun to do? I did one last year and spent way too long futzing with it. I love how READ is so prominent!
