WWW Wednesday 09Oct13
Is anyone still out there? It’s been so long since I’ve blogged that I wouldn’t blame you if you’ve all taken your ball and gone home.
I’m working on the summaries of the books I’ve read over the past four months but, in the meantime, and to break radio silence, here’s a fun meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. I came across WWW Wednesday via Words and Peace.
What I’m currently reading:
The Death of Bees by Lisa O’Donnell
My heart is breaking for all of the main characters. It’s very hard to put down.
Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain
This is women’s fiction set in 1960 North Carolina. I saw a decent review of this and needed an “N” title for my A-Z challenge, but I should have known better. Happy endings that involve unrealistic resolutions rub me the wrong way.
What I think I’ll read next:
A Far Cry from Kensington
Is something published in 1988 “vintage”? I guess it depends how old you are. Anyway, I expect this book will contain a lot of the protagonist’s memories of 1950s Kensington, which I’m sure is old enough to qualify. I’m hoping this is just my cup of tea.
How about you? What are you reading? Leave me a comment and let me know I’m not all alone in the blogosphere.
I have heard of the first two books but not the third. Muriel Spark should be good.
I finished The Death of Bees last night, Harvee and I’m on the Spark now. So far, so good!
Of course I am still here! I was tickled to see you are writing. Now that I am expecting grandchildren, I so get it. Honestly, I sometimes just sit and stare with a grin on my face. :<)
I have a vague memory of Far Cry about a woman who lost weight by eating half of what was on her plate. I wonder if it is even the right book that I am remembering.
Yes, Nan, I think it’s the right book. She hasn’t lost the weight yet, but she’s already talked about the ‘eating half on your plate.’
Congratulations on your grandchildren expectations! It’s like nothing else in the world. ๐
You’ve started out with interesting books. Welcome back.
Thank you, Mystica. Good to hear from Sri Lanka!
Welcome back!
Thanks, Mary! I’ve been diligently adding books to my TBR list while I’ve been gone, based on your blog posts. ๐
I really want to get my hands on Necessary Lies!
Seriously, Thanks. I look forward to reading your reviews.
I liked Death of Bees – hope u r enjoying it as well.
I loved The Death of Bees, Diane!
I read Death of Bees and liked it, but am so behind on reviews, it was ages ago, and the review will probably never be written. Glad you’re back! I always admire all you organized bloggers who can post summaries every week or every month!
Hah! Laurie – I started the monthly recaps because I found myself in the boat you’re in now: so far behind, I missed a whole bunch. Now I’m still far behind, but I can catch up in half a dozen posts. ๐
I emphasize–I’m in the same boat. Not sure why I haven’t been blogging more this summer. Glad you found your way back, perhaps it will motivate me.
Teresa, I follow a lot of bloggers who’ve burned out and quit completely this past summer. Must be something in the air.
I hope you’ll rejoin us soon.
